Home! DragonCon prep & more

Hello Patrons!  (Pssst – for those of you in the “Behind the Scenes” tier stay tuned – in a few minutes I’ll be sneaking a preview of the finished DragonCon pins 😉 )

But first I wanted to post an update for everybody, as I’m finally back home in Florida!   ::happy dance::

I’ve been gone 6-7 weeks, so there’s a lot of catching up to do around here

Firstly of course we need to ship about a billion orders – all the stuff folks have ordered that required materials or printing equipment located here at my FL studio, or paintings/canvases stored here that we haven’t been able to lug around state-to-state/ country-to-country in our van or on airplanes with us.  So, if you’ve been waiting on an original painting or special canvas from the previous weeks, we are literally working on those right now (I’m typing this while eating my lunch, lol, my only break today!).

Secondly comes all the weirdness that immediately follows a long-term absence.  We have property managers, house-sitters, security, etc. at our Florida locations while we’re gone of course – but it’s still always strange coming back to one’s home when it’s been un-lived-in for weeks/months.  Waking up not having any clue where I am is always fun, or realizing I’ve left my glasses or shoes at some other house, trying to make sense out of the literal pounds of snailmail that piles up, triple checking that all the utility bills and taxes are paid up and in advance on five different properties, it’s always a mass of confusion with a hectic wire of deadlines running through it.

Being in Florida too, the primordial-era jungle vegetation that comes with the territory is always entertaining.  My backyard here at my studio even when I’m home tends to look different almost day-to-day, let alone a month and a half unseen.  Small trees spring up, massive flowering vines have nearly covered my back windows, a forest of ferns has engulfed one side of my patio, my courtyard floor is now solidly green with moss.  Personally, I think it looks pretty fantastic, but I know I need to get it somewhat maintained just to even walk through it without a machete, lol.

And now we’re preparing for DRAGONCON!  That’ll be in Atlanta, Georgia on August 30-September 2nd.  My official event page with ALL the details is now up here in my Events section: https://facebook.com/strangeling/events –  it is important to note that this year we’ve expanded to a BIG exhibitor’s booth setup and will be up on the third floor of the AmericasMart building (so don’t come looking for us at the Hyatt where we usually are, we’re in the other building).  Hopefully the previous issues with queuing & space constraints will be solved, I’ll have designated autographing times, more help, etc.

We’ll be doing three DragonCon Exclusive Strangeling Pins as giveaways (I’ll post previews in a few minutes here at Patreon for those of you in the Behind-The-Scenes tier) and will be bringing a lot more art & stuff than usual too.

I’ll be back up at Twitch this coming Sunday working on one of the paintings I’ll be debuting there for you all to watch, stay tuned for updates on that as well – or if you’d like to go ahead and mark your calendars / set your phone alarms, I’ll be broadcasting this Sunday, August 18 starting at 4PM Eastern Time here – https://www.twitch.tv/jasminebecketgriffith

In the meantime, I’ll be at Disney World’s WonderGround Gallery here in Florida this Saturday (4-7pm) at Disney Springs and a castmember has just confirmed that (Yay!!!!) they got my Madame Leota artwork & merchandise in stock in time for this weekend here in Florida = huzzah! (The original acrylic painting of course sold at the event in California, but they’ll have canvases, prints, postcards, clothing, mugs, etc. here in FL).

Back to work I go! Got a lot of projects lined up so stay tuned for a ton of new eye candy. See you in Florida Saturday, or online up on Twitch Sunday!
