Matt just pointed out that I’m excitingly close to my next official Patreon goal (the $7k one), for our new printer!!
Technically we’ll need to hit the goal for two months in a row to cover the costs for the printer & all the new ink cartridges & media/canvas/paper & shelving etc. but once we do, this will be mine!
It’s a Canon like our current line of wide format printers, with the fancy archival Lucia inks we already use in at our KC and in our FL printing offices, but waaaay bigger. We’ll still have our existing printers for all our usual print sizes but this glorious piece of nano-tech machinery will allow us to do ginormous sized canvases. To put things in perspective – this printer weighs 368 pounds and is between six or seven feet wide. It requires a lot of planning to install a piece of property like this, especially since it has to be delivered by a special lift-gate truck service and then has to be transported to the second story of our printing/shipping office building >__< With 18,432 nozzles (yes, you read that right!) it’s an incredibly delicate artifact, hehe, I’m kind of terrified of getting it but very excited.
Effectively it means that we’ll have things like 40×80″ sized canvases available – which is important since I’ve begun working on large format paintings and I’d love to be able to have full-sized Masterpiece Editions to show all of the detail at a 1:1 ratio, and also to finally use all my 600DPI scans of previous paintings to do actual proportional quality enlargements on a large scale for galleries, etc. too.
And of course once we get it up & running (again, it will technically take two months after hitting our goal here at Patreon) I will be surprising at least one or two of you lucky Patrons to receive a free giant canvas, probably the very first ones we make, as it is only because of you guys I am able to do this.
And then…. I’ll have to choose a new goal! So far the Patreon goals we have had (getting the new office building, my giant easel, the new printer, the Twitch channel, and the new full-time Florida assistant who will be starting in about a month!) have gone very smoothly and have helped us enormously in our daily lives. It’s hard to put into words how nice it is not to have to literally sleep on boxes of picture frames and not live like a cave person. And I’ve very much been digging Twitch (we’ll be broadcasting again live tomorrow starting at 3PM Eastern Time, 8PM UK Time http://www.twitch.tv/jasminebecketgriffith ). So I will have to brainstorm with Matt & the team to see what our next important endeavour will be. I’m not a frivolous person so I’m sure it will be very practical, but something that will better our lives, my ability to create, and most importantly something that my patrons, fans & collectors of my work will benefit from.
