Since I basically do this for YOU guys, I would love to hear your thoughts!
My first Strangeling Vinyl Doll (Alice in the Starry Night) has been a big hit, so we are (thankfully!) going to proceed with more in the collection – YAY!
PS – Speaking of Strangeling Vinyls, we got more in stock up at my website here – http://www.strangeling.com/shop/strangeling-vinyl-dolls/alice-starry-night-strangeling-vinyl-doll/ AND we now have them at StrangelingUK (smuggled some to England in my suitcase, lol) – http://strangelinguk.com/Figurines/Strangeling-Vinyl/strangeling-vinyl.html – so for you UK folks, you might want to snag one up there to save a ton on shipping costs.
Anyway – we’re now discussing what the second Vinyl doll should be!
A few random thoughts:
*We’d like to keep them the same size and general proportions, to match the previous one if they are displayed on the same shelf for collectors, etc.
*These are separate from my Disney Vinylmation dolls (such as my Haunted Mansion Bride), so these cannot be based on ©Disney characters
*Set-up costs are pricey on making the molds for these (I think it was around $6000-8000 just to build the molds, ouch!) – but once a mold is made we can do other colors/characters as long as the shape of the vinyl is the same. So possibly for the next design/mold, it might be neat to have a few different options such as hair colour, skintone, eye colour, theming, etc. Or for example do sweet one and a goth one that look completely different painted, but can use the same mold (just a thought, that might be kind of a neat way to have variations/variants). I wouldn’t re-use the Alice mold since she’s very specifically Alice, but I might consider that for future Vinyls. Kinda like how Marvel will have “Incredible Hulk” and then “Zombie Hulk” that look different painted, but use the same basic mold form. I now know why companies do that type of thing, lol.
*I would personally LOVE to do a mermaid one, but I’m trying to visualize how we could make one that would have the same basic format as Alice
*The next design I want to make the skirt/legs/whatever is on the lower half to be more substantial, as my big headed characters tend to be top-heavy. My little Alice here is perfectly content to sit on my desk or a flat shelf, etc. but if I take her outside to stand in the grass or on something sloped that isn’t flat (hey, I can play with toys outside if I still want to!) she tends to be a bit top-heavy. Which is fine, but I want people to have more flexible display & play options. So I will definitely be considering this when I start coming up with designs for future Strangeling Vinyls.
I’d love to hear your suggestions!!!

Jasmine
