Earlier we had a Patreon vote to determine the next Patreon Exclusive pin, and it was my little “Paisley” fairy! I was soon to learn that she was going to be the most challenging pin design ever, lol. One of the most detailed & colourful pieces of mine, it was incredibly difficult to simplify down into a 1.5″ piece of metal & enamel, hehe.
Would you believe that it took me longer to design the pin than it did to paint the actual original “Paisley” painting? In fact, it took almost twice as many hours >___<
I think the design looks great though! The hard part mostly was that the enamel process we use for the pin molds typically allows for six colours. At first that might sound like a lot, but keep in mind that black, white, and flesh tones would automatically be half of that, leaving only three colours. Paisley of course is a gorgeous rainbow hippie fairy with psychelic colour swirls all over, and I just could not limit her to just three colours.
So instead we figured out a way to basically include NINE colours on her, involving hand pouring enamels over multiple steps and drying times, so she will have all the colours as shown in my design above! It will take longer (and will cost a great deal more to produce, but since she’s a free giveaway pin that won’t make a difference to you guys!) but I think it will be one of the most beautiful pins we have produced (crossing my fingers).
She is a Patreon Exclusive which means she won’t be for sale – she will only be a FREE giveaway pin for all of the Patreon Pin Collector tier patrons. We will probably have them all finished up by either July or August, so all of you at that time (most likely August) will be receiving her as a free exclusive pin (we’ll probably ship her along with the Pin of the Month for that month, so you’ll be receiving two).
We have only about 15 of the current Patreon Exclusive pins (“Alice in Clockwork”) left, and no more will be made of her.
